1st birthday photoshoot, Corby – The gorgeous Raffi has been coming into my studio since he was born. So far we have done his newborn shoot, sitter session and now he came to see us for his 1st birthday photoshoot and cake smash at our photography studio nr Corby. His incredibly clever mummy made not only made this beautiful boy, but also an aeroplane for him to fly during his shoot! He is the most adorable little boy with the most amazing pout!

Raffi’s big sister Mia (who we call Chandler Bing due to her funny style of smiling for pictures!) first came to me for a fairy themed photoshoot at our studio in Middleton (Leicestershire although weirdly we are actually just outside Corby!). Since then they have been back so many times that Rachel has her own parking spot at the studio 😉 At Raffi’s sitter session we planned out his first birthday shoot. All our shoots can be tailored to any theme and I am always happy when clients come with their own ideas …I love nothing more than getting creative and a challenge!

The outfit was planned, the props were designed and other bits sourced and ordered…before we knew it, Raffi was one and it was time for his 1st birthday photoshoot!! He came to me a little before his birthday so that we could get his pictures edited in time for his birthday. What a session, we laughed all the way through..well Raffi did a combination of smiling and pouting…oh those lips..and lashes! The boy is divine!

The photoshoot session started with some pictures of Raffi in his plane, its always good to get some nice portrait shots before everyone gets covered in cake! During the cake smash, Raffi delicately ate the cake to start with and needed a little help to get tore in and start actually smashing the cake! This is quite common for a 1st birthday photoshoot. Some don’t like getting messy and some just can’t quite believe they are allowed to squish this massive, yummy cake in front of them!

Quite often the cake eating is helped by mummy, daddy or siblings (the photographer does not eat any of the cake, ever, pinky promise…just don’t look at my ever swelling hips that refuse to lie!) Sometimes little ones demolish it in seconds and you can see the sugar rush kick in, those kind of babies are my kind of babies…I could very easily demolish a whole cake in one sitting! After the cake smash, we move on to a splash session. We have a selection of different baths from vintage tin baths to a clawfoot bathtub, they make the cutest pictures and little ones love bath time…Raffi certainly did!
