As a Wedding Photographer this wedding was a double whammy for me, not only did I get to photograph another wedding at the beautiful Barton Hall grade II listed building in Northamptonshire, I also got to see my gorgeous little cousin Emma get married!
It was such a fab day! The sun came out and everyone got to party on the lawns with some amazing entertainment. The very fab Mango Acoustic Duo sang throughout the ceremony and afterwards whilst guest supped champagne…if that wasn’t enough they also had the fab magician Lewis Joss to keep them entertained!
Emma got ready at Barton Hall after staying the night, the room was full of bridesmaids, hair and makeup artists and a very emotional mother of the bride… who only just held it together until the dress went on and then she lost it! Although so much going on in the room, it was calm and relaxed..unlike Dean, he arrived in a Porsche with his Best Man but even that wasn’t calming his nerves!
Grooms and Best Men usually look pretty stressed and don’t visibly relax until the dreaded speeches are over. However the Best Man was looking a little smug as he had a Tim Westwood hook up surprise up his sleeve for Dean or Dj Bean as I hear he likes to be called 😉
Dean stood nervously waiting for his gorgeous bride to come down the aisle and he wasn’t disappointed, she looked amazing! The wedding ceremony went off without a hitch, everyone got everyone else’s name correct and not a peep from the crowd when it was asked if anyone had anything to declare! Afterwards I floated around getting lots of natural shots of everyone enjoying themselves, I love this bit as you capture real emotion and people having fun.
Then onto some quick group shots and couple portraits, I always try and keep this bit to a short time frame as guests always dread them…nothing worse than having to hang round for ages and having to force on a smile when they just want to be having fun..my philosophy is. in and out as quick as possible and keep them relaxed!
For this wedding I also got to be a guest and enjoy the three course meal, plus got to see lots of relatives I hadn’t seen in ages…including my Dad. An incredibly close up picture of him is included in this as I took great pleasure in making him feel uncomfortable… he hates having his picture taken! In fact most of my family kept telling me to sod off when I came near with the camera, I had lots of fun purposely annoying them!
Finally we ended with the cutting of the cake and a first dance to the amazing Point-Blank UK…all in all, it was a bloody brilliant day! Thanks for having me there as your Wedding Photographer and thanks for my dinner!
